About Emma

I always wanted to be a PE teacher so I went to Exeter University, St Luke’s and qualified in 1997 with the skills to teach PE and Science.

I have worked in various Secondary schools over the years, in Staffordshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire. And even for the Womens Sports Foundation in New York, USA.

I helped Charters School, Sunningdale gain their Sports College status and held roles of primary liaison and school sport coordinator. Until I then ran my own School Sport Partnership in Reading, working with nearly 50 Primary, Secondary and Special schools. As I have always strived to provide high quality PE whether in delivery myself or by inspiring other teachers, I have seen the benefits of a whole school and community approach to PE and physical activity.

I am currently focusing on primary provision as I believe to inspire and engage children when they are young can give them the confidence and tools for life to have a go at anything.

Throughout my career I have been passionate about helping pupils and teachers to increase their confidence and striving to reach their potential in a safe, inclusive and enjoyable environment. I believe in the importance of establishing a life-long love of sports and activity, seeking as many opportunities for participation as possible, while empowering and inspiring them to have the confidence to try new things and realise their potential.
